Daring, sassy and sensuous, Indecent…Exposure is a sizzling erotic short story that kicks off an exciting new trilogy from a writer to watch out for – Jane O’Reilly.

Ellie Smithson is a highly respectable photographer with a shocking secret. By day, she takes photographs of happy families and loved-up couples about to walk down the aisle, but at night, the talented photographer shakes off the shackles of respectability and takes photographs of a more intimate nature. Nobody – except her old friend Amber – knows about this little sideline. However, things look set to change when Amber is dumped and decides to teach her former lover a lesson. Amber wants Ellie to take an X-rated photo of her having the time of her life with a good-looking hunk who will make her old boyfriend seethe with jealousy. Ellie wouldn’t usually bat an eyelid at such a request, however, she cannot help but feel a little bit awkward when she realises that Amber has roped in Tom Hunt – her accountant – as the unexpected star of this photo shoot!

Ellie doesn’t usually go for boring accountants in three piece suits and sensible haircuts, but for the last couple of months Tom has been haunting her thoughts and disturbing her dreams. Although the sex is hot and frequent, what I enjoyed most about Indecent…Exposure was that Jane O’Reilly managed to write an erotic short story that had a powerful, compelling and tender romance about two damaged souls finding one another at its heart that will move and enthrall readers.

Despite thoroughly enjoying Indecent…Exposure, my only qualm about this short story was that I felt that Tom and Ellie resolved the issues that were keeping them apart far too quickly and abruptly and would have liked more space to have been devoted to their emotional journey, but due to the restricted word count of short stories, this wasn’t possible.

Readers looking for a fast-paced quick read to brighten up their day, should look no further then Jane O’Reilly’s Indecent stories. With two further installments to go, I can’t wait to see what mischief her characters get up to next!

Shy + Steady = Sexy

Shy Ellie is a regular portrait and wedding photographer by day and erotic photographer by night. Despite her own hesitant and reserved character, she quite enjoys taking naughty pictures of other people at their own request. Or she did, until the day her best friend drags in Ellie’s accountant – the same man Ellie’s had a serious crush on for three years – and asks Ellie to take pictures of them together so Amber can get back at her cheating ex.

Despite this somewhat uncomfortable beginning, this ends up as a hot read between a shy woman with a naughty secret and a deceptively boring accountant with a seriously sexy side. Yet in true O’Reilly style this book is about more than sex and Ellie’s hiding another secret that she considers even more shameful, one she’s certain will make Tom despise her. It adds a definite layer of sadness and sweetness to this story, not to mention a couple of cringe-worthy moments of foolishness and groveling that make it about more than just great sex.

Short, sexy and a little bit sweet, Jane O'Reilly is a master at these quick erotic reads.

Accountants Do It With Interest

Jane O'Reilly--you are my new favorite author! Probably because you could be Charlotte Stein's hornier little sister--yeah, it's that good.

I learn so much from books! Who knew that being a photographer could lead to you taking erotic pics of your bestie blowing some hot stud...who happens to be your ACCOUNTANT?! This, I did not know. Knowledge--it's a good thing. Yeah, this is the accountant you've lusted after for years but couldn't make a move on because he was camouflaged by so much...khaki.

And who knew that accountants had such amazing equipment...and I ain't talking about abacuses...underneath those pleated Dockers? This, I did not know. If I had, I would've done more cruising at H&R Block.

And who knew that accountants could actually feel the same way about a client and sport some tremendous wood...and I ain't talking about a nicely sharpened pencil, though there is something very satisfying about a sharp pencil rather than one that's worn down, because of the way it glides across the paper...and am I really talking about a pencil when there is Hot Accountant Sex waiting around the desk? Apologies--I will save my Staples fantasies for later.

Ennyway, Ellie (the photographer) gets so sidetracked by Tom (the stunt peen) during the photo shoot, that she misses Amber's (the Hoover vacuum) money shot. Who knew that all those penii flying around during a photo shoot could be so distracting?! Ummm, well, this, I kinda did know.

Ellie can't get Tom out of her mind, so of course she must get him into her vachina. A lot. Like, you'd need Tom's 10-key to keep track of all the times they Do It. Thank God he's an accountant and can give her a running a total while he's giving it to her. A lot. Did I mention a lot? Yes, I did, and I thank you, Ms. O'Reilly. You have given me a new respect for the field of accounting.

But Ellie is insecure and tries to sabotage their relationship, because, yes, it IS a relationship, not just sex, though there is sex involved. A lot. Did I mention a lot? But Tom is patient and kind and well-endowed and could do their joint taxes should they ever get married, so it works out in the end.

Ms. O'Reilly packs a lot of heat and angst and love in a short amount of time (this book is novella length), and it's decadently delicious.

Behind the innocent facades of Victorian fairy tales were intense debates about the nature of childhood and the motives of the male and female authors of the tales. These issues as well as the works of seven British children's authors who published from 1850 to 1870, including Lewis Carroll and Christina Rossetti, are treated here by Knoepflmacher (English and ancient and modern literature, Princeton Univ.; Forbidden Journeys: Fairy Tales and Fantasies by Victorian Women Writers, LJ 4/15/92). The author believes that male writers of the time idealized childhood, whereas female writers were more grounded in actuality and that both camps were in constant conflict. In the engagingly written Ventures into Childland, U. C. Knoepflmacher illuminates this debate. Offering brilliant rereadings of classics from the "Golden Age of Children's Literature" as well as literature commonly considered "grown-up", Knoepflmacher probes deeply into the relations between adults and children, adults and their own childhood selves, and between the lives of beloved Victorian authors and their "children's tales".

As Knoepflmacher shows, male and female constructions of childhood in these fairy tales differed radically. Male writers -- John Ruskin, William Makepeace Thackeray, George MacDonald, and Lewis Carroll -- often displayed an uneasy relation to adult gender roles. By privileging a special girl reader, they attempted to blur sexual differences and sentimentalize and arrested childhood. Female authors, on the other hand -- Jean Ingelow, Christina Rossetti, and Juliana Ewing -- tried to wrest fairy tales away from the male authors who had appropriated the genre. These women's tales relate fables of growth that are more grounded in actuality than the men's, and that more often allow their girl characters to mature.

These disputes are poignant at a time when our inherited notion of childhood as a precious preserve seems seriously threatened. Ventures into Childland will delight and instruct all readers of children's classics, and will be essential reading for students of Victorian culture and gender studies.

Longtime Washington, D.C., tax attorney Fox is well positioned to lend perspective to the current tax debate. Fox stresses the narrowness of the U.S. tax base; Congress' Joint Committee on Taxation estimates that, from 2000 to 2004, nearly $3 trillion of income will be excluded from taxes. This tax-expenditure amount includes employer benefit plan contributions, capital-gains-related exclusions, personal itemized deductions and business deductions beyond the cost of doing business, and tax credits. These tax preferences encourage economic behavior Congress wanted to reward, but Fox makes the case that conservatives and liberals could agree on a more equitable tax code if it included more income and then taxed it at lower, moderately progressive rates. Fox explores the values reflected in tax law, examines the effectiveness of tax incentives, analyzes specific exclusions (home mortgage interest, pension plans, and capital gains), and compares income tax with a "flat tax," closing with conclusions and reform recommendations. Every one can benefit from the collected information and well-conceived opinions of Mr. Fox. This book can serve as a wellspring to initiate questions, debate, or perhaps a citizen's revolt against our present archaic, confusing, and unequal tax system. Mr. Fox has obviously been working on this book for several years, but his phenomenal foresight has placed this brilliant work in our hands at just the right moment when we consider the major tax law changes now being considered by the U.S. Executive and Legislative branches of our government. The proposed changes could have a profound negative effect on our children and us. In the 18th century American citizens had a tea party in Boston because of unfair taxes. What will our generation do? Whimper and complain or become informed and proactive?

John Fox's take on taxes is a must read for anyone who cares about tax equity and the well-being of the body politic. When I first studied taxes as an employee of the California Legislature -- now nearly four decades ago -- we learned that simple equity -- equal treatment of equals -- was the first principle of a fair and just tax system; absent equity the system would be manifestly unfair and eventually would lose its legitimacy, the greatest danger a democratic republic can face. As Fox points out,that's exactly what's happening with modern tax policy -- regressive, unfair, unjust are the attributes that leap out at you. But Fox does more than point the finger of blame; he offers constructive suggestions to get the system back where it belongs, to restore fairness and legitimacy.

The Tax Connection

Fox gets right down to two essential questions: "First, can the income tax be made reasonably fair, simple and economically efficient?" and "Second, are its flaws worth repairing, or would it be preferable to adopt a very different tax system?" He explains, in the clearest - non-polemic - way, what the tax picture really is. Early on he gives an example, the taxes of the Gepetto and Anton families - an example that lights up the rest of the book. The exposition is very clear and yet detailed enough to illustrate the nitty-gritty of several issues, including homeownership (where I got a tip or two) and the capital gains controversy. Fox is broadminded and flexible in his approach - perhaps an endangered species writing about such a hot topic. There is immediacy about his writing making the book a gripping page-turner rather than pedantic.

Joy Hakim, a former teacher, editor, and writer won the prestigious James Michener Prize for her series, A History of US, which has sold over 4 million copies nationwide. Excellent accompanyment for the text and student guide.

I'm glad I purchased this to go with the textbook and student study guide for homeschooling. Although some of the activities suggested are for large groups and aren't pertinent to my needs, it has the answers to questions in the student guild, and it is a great tool for starting discussions. So much of the material parallels things I'm seeing in our country now, so this particular book is very good for teaching critical thinking skills. This series is also very good for secular homeschooling. It covers religion from the standpoint of how it has impacted the history of our country without teaching any particular doctrine. I am a big fan of Joy Hakin's books. This will be my 8th year to homeschool various grandchildren, and I've gone through a lot of curriculum. Her books are among the very best I've used.

Stellar Examination Of Important Public Spaces

Extraordinary journey examining the design and execution, the historical context, and the sociology of some of the most famous and important hotel lobbies in the world, along with their adjacent bars, with sumptuous photos of each such space alone worth the price of admission.

The emphasis is centre-city interaction and the meaning of it all, lucidly and meticulously described by an author with a considerable sense of taste, history and irony.

Probably no better book about such venues, though it does run through the mid-90s and thus not treat the so-called modern hotels, like the W hotels, then beginning to appear on the scene.

Long wait worth it

It was a horribly long wait for this, the third book in he multiverse series. I sincerely hope t5he 2wait for the next one will be considerably shorter. It took me some time to adjust to the new "co-author's" style. The book itself is good, tied up ends from second book nicely. One of the critics complained thaqt the villains are uniformly bad and that this isn't true to life. That critic needs more life experience. Does he really think real villains have good characters. Sure. Hitler was a vegetarian and loved dogs. Mao wrote poetry. Hirohito was a marine biologist, And on and on. . . It's good to see the good people in Arcana getting into the game and the bad people in Sharonia finally doing really bad stuff. Civil wars in the offing? I believe there could be as many as seven or eight books in this series, if it is ever finished. Aside from that, no complaints.

Good Enough Until the Next One.

Thank god that wait is over. Good news is that after nine years we have a novel that moves every old plot thread along and starts several new ones that we didnt know were coming.
For starters, the addition of the new co-author is seamless. There's no difference in style.
Then, after two books we finally get to see Arcana. Shaylar and her husband arrive in the home universe and meet a whole new gaggle of Arcanians. Threads like this make up for the fact that nothing really happens with the Arcanian Expeditionary Force invasion of the Sharonian universes. Whereas there's definite progress made on that front, and promises of a lot more to come, the novels ends with Harshu still where he was in book two. There's a lot of shenanigans behind the scenes, and Harshu ends up with the tables turned, I was really hoping for another battle royale between Sharonian and Arcanian military for control of the Hell's Gate Chain. The plot advancement we are given definitely makes sense, and is a definite advancement of the storyline, I just wanted one more bit of ummph.
But thats the unpredictability of the series. Whereas its been promised as a white-knuckle military blow-out between magic and science, that is selling the whole premise short. The REAL plot complications are occurring on the home planets, where on Arcania we see a lot more of the Mythrian coup attempt that we first heard about in Book one (and we finally see Vos Hoven again, bringing his story to a close), and on Sharonia there's an out-of-left-field surprise between the Ternathia and Uromathia cold war, which is the grand finale action sequence of the novel, revealing that the magic vs science gimmick was likely a bait and switch the entire time, and now the real story begins. That makes the novel worthwhile, so long as we dont have to wait NINE YEARS for the next one. Just give us Book 4 in a year or so, and Book 3 will make a fine transitional story. Enough to keep us happy and still wanting more.
And by the way, the cover art is a vast improvement.

Finally the Next Book in the Series Has Arrived. Fortunately it is a Wonderful Read

Thank Big Frank the next book in the series has finally appeared. I was entranced for the story when I read the first two books and have been waiting impatiently and hoping I didn't die of old age before the next one arrived. Hurrah, it is even better than the second one and carries the story along at quite a brisk pace. The books are so filled with details of interest that I really suggest that you reread the first two before you attack the third one. Of course the story is still a great read by itself but there are so many tie-ins that you will flounder a bit without connecting the earlier dots. I find the contrast of science against magic to be an amazingly intriguing aspect of the book that hasn't been explored before.

Urgently Relevant

Although written in 1999-2000, this book could be speaking directly to our government officials' current plans to "jumpstart" the economy. In this short, highly readable book, Fogler brings us back to the grounded environmental perspective that has too often been brushed aside in the current rush to create more jobs, produce more, buy-buy-buy more - in order to put our economy back on track.

Fogler believes that it's better for families to arrange to have lower expenses than to struggle for higher incomes. He makes some suggestions about how the average family can radically reduce its cost of living so that they can hope to live without have regular 9-5 jobs. Things that many feel they have to have in order to survive in this world, are actually superfluous to the good life. Good schools for the kids, that second car (or even that first car), and a large home with its maintenance costs and the attendant insurance policies deemed necessary to protect it are hardly essentials.

Fogler also points out how daily little savings can be made in the areas of clothing, food, and canned entertainment. All the little savings can add up to a big saving that frees people from routine, careerist work. It can free them to live in closer touch with their other family members, with community members, and with nature.

He points out that the only truly fulfilling work is "giving one's gifts back to the community." Anything done only for getting the carrot of money at the end of a stick is at least in part drudgery that wastes one's few precious years on this earth.

What little money Fogler occasionally needs in dealings with the larger cash-driven economy - he earns by giving guitar lessons or by doing neighborly carpentry work. He gives examples of what other un-jobbers have done to get the minimal amounts of cash they occasionally need to function in the larger society.

However, Fogler doesn't really address the question of what would happen if everyone, or even if a significant percentage of the population, gave up steady jobs and dabbled in artisan outputs this way. He seems to assume living in rural or semi-rural conditions. But I still think that big cities are fantastically vital places to live and that, because of their concentrations of infrastructure, they can also be very environmentally friendly. However it takes concerted effort to run many of the mammoth utilities that keep a city functioning. Collecting garbage, processing water, treating sewage, all require the coordinated efforts of thousands of employees. It's unlikely that enough people would regard such jobs as intrinsically rewarding enough to do them without cash pay. Also, these jobs, like being an airplane pilot, can't be performed in casual swatches of time. You have to commit to being there certain hours, Johnny-on-the-spot, to provide some consecutive intelligence to the operation.

Fogler doesn't even consider such questions in this slim volume. He doesn't answer the big questions of how our U.S. economy and the world economy could be re-oriented away from dependence on massive production/masive consumption. However, Fogler does mention that he often gives lectures on the topic of how to "Un-Job," and perhaps some of these larger issues get addressed in these face-to-face debates. There's also a very helpful list of resources at the end of this book, steering the reader to on-line sites, to un-jobbing communities, and to further reading on the subject.

Overall, this book will serve beautifully to jump-start you on the way to a simpler, freer life. It offers good advice and encouragement on dropping out the rat race. It also gives inspiring assurance that such defection from the 9-5 commuter swarm might not constitute shirking from honest work. Sitting on the porch and stopping to smell the roses might in many cases serve those around us better in the long run than scattering out to standard salaried jobs. Clearing one's life to make room for leisurely, simple enjoyments might be a way to answer a higher calling.

Planning for retirement

A very valuable, common sense examination of alternatives to an employment driven perspective of life! This book is helping me crystallize my plans for retirement since, like many baby boomers, my projected retirement from social security and little savings will not entirely cover my current expenses. This is helping me see how I can, in fact, survive financially with less guaranteed income.

The author should think about an addendum that deals with how nationalized healthcare may be an option for some. I found this area of concern (covering medical costs) addressed a bit scantily and casually.

Excellent Review of Physiology

I found this to be an excellent self-study review of a subject whose details were becoming vague in my mind. The attention required to color each page requires that the reader attend to each aspect of the subject so that it stays with him; it is not forgotten immediately as are so many written texts. The Anatomy Coloring Book makes a good companion to this workbook. Alone, the anatomy book is a bit too elemental but it is useful in conjunction with this excellent exposition of basic physiology.

This book has become a classic tool to learn physiology!

This book reaffirms the adage: Never judge a book by its cover, (or by its title!) This excellent work makes it easy to understand complex structures and functions in physiology. I have used it as a supplementary text for students ranging from 10th grade to graduate students in biomedical engineering. However, color, the reader must, to get full benefit from the book! It has become a classic tool to learn physiology in an entertaining, yet accurate and reliable way. A brilliant idea!

Wish I had purshased this for anatomy 1

I am almost at the end of my anatomy & physiology 2 course. I wish I had gotten a hold of this gem last semester or at least earlier this semester. I have the anatomy coloring book but I think it would have been better if I had this one too. This book is awesome. It looks overwhelming at first because all the action going on on each plate, but when you read through it carefully you will see the crazy amount of information that will stick with you forever. If I don't finish this book during my break before nursing school begins in August, then I will definitely continue coloring this in med surg. Great details, great information.
