I read this book at a time of great transition in my life

I read this book at a time of great transition in my life. I am a 77 year old single woman selling my home of twenty years, along with most of my belongings, to travel the world for the next five months and then settle back into a community I left many years ago....and I'm not moving in with my children or anyone else, for that matter.
It feels like jumping off a cliff.
I needed a strong dose of inspiration, more than I knew, and found it in Autobiography of a Naked Yogi. As I traveled with Yogi Aaron on his journey through childhood, adolescence and into adulthood, I realized that even though the circumstances and events of our lives are very different, the qualities that we must acquire and develop to overcome the inevitable challenges we all face are the same.
Reading Aaron's story, I was reminded that these are the same qualities that the practice of yoga instill in us and, ultimately, lead to a path of liberation.
Thanks to Aaron, I am now looking forward to the landing.

I rarely say I LOVE something but this book is truly a small slice ...

I rarely say I LOVE something but this book is truly a small slice of something I will never forget. As I was reading it, especially toward the end of the book I was reminded of one of those Netflix binges...you want to go to bed but you can't bring yourself to turn off the TV. As someone who has had many journey's teaching massage and meeting many people (including Aaron), Autobiography of a Naked Yogi reminded me never to question yourself when you have a calling, Whether it be to travel or to find what you love to do and make a living by sharing it with others....My "take home" message: Don't sit around waiting for the "right time" or when you have enough money, etc.. When the door opens, run through it.... don't peak around the corner and wonder what's on the other side.

A niche memoir with surprisingly broad appeal

There's something really refreshing about reading another human being's life story. I was given this book by a friend, I have little in common with Yogi Aaron, and didn't find many insights in this book that helped or enlightened me on a personal level. But that actually made the reading experience better, not worse. As I realized that I didn't have to glean the pages for a reason to be reading them, I found I could relax and enjoy the story of another person's experience much more easily. If you're a gay man, a yogi, a world traveler, an event host, the product of a difficult family, spiritual, or in love with the ocean, you'll love this book--but even if you aren't any of those things, you'll likely still enjoy letting Aaron's story wash over you.
